Building the property, Jan 2019 - Jan 2020
Mark Katumba had a vision for 10 years to build a good, Christian school in his village. He had the property, he had saved up some bricks, sand and stones, even some money for labor, but he was still far away from his goal. God led him to Fr. Matt and Inger at Trinity Anglican Church, and he was able to present his vision to them. Through prayer, Fr. Matt and Inger agreed to partner with him in building the school, and later on both the Ladies' Guild and the Vestry at Trinity joined in with their own donations.. The School Opens! Jan 2020
Uganda has free public schooling, but the demand is so large and the teachers are so poorly paid, the quality of the education is unfortunately sub-par. You will often find 100-150 students to a class room, with only two teachers! Many parents give up on sending their children to school. In the village, they were closely watching this new school being built. Mark hired six good teachers and went door to door before opening day. He signed 45 students up. Not too many, but a good start we figured. Check out the pictures below to see how the first month went.
Is that it? Are we done?
Our answer is; fortunately not! There is still a lot of needs. We say "fortunately not", because we have experienced so many blessings through this process, being able to share of our abundance with those who have so very little. Scripture tells us it is more blessed to give than to receive, and it is so very true. As you give, you will experience a joy from the Holy Spirit, because our Heavenly Father rejoices in your giving. We are still in the very early stages of establishing the school. There are many children that have joined, which in and of itself is a victory, as several of them has had either none or very poor schooling up until this point. But the families are poor and many of them cannot afford to pay the school fees. This first year, our goal is to provide for the teachers' salaries. The rest; school supplies, food, furniture, etc. should be covered through the students' fees. But without the teachers, there will be no school Would you like to support a teacher on a monthly basis? There are five teachers at $45/month each, three at $55/month each and one at $65/month. Write the check out to Trinity Anglican Church and put "Uganda School" in the subject line and we will take care of the rest. Or send an email to Inger (inger.mirabile@gmail.com) to get more information. If you cannot give monetarily, please feel free to check in on this page to rejoice with us in what God is doing for these little ones in Uganda. It is all to His glory!
